Champagne Sailing Conditions Saturday 15 August

Near perfect sailing conditions allowed the 2 RYA Training groups, under the expert tuition of Ben and Richard, to enjoy the sun and a 12 to 15 mph breeze and put their skills learnt in recent weeks to the test, with everyone coming ashore with huge grins. A triangular course was set for the coaching session where the upwind legs proved testing for some, with the reaches allowing planning conditions for the first time in a few weeks, resulting in some spectacular capsizes.
The conditions remained constant for the club's afternoon racing with the race officer setting a testing course compounded by some massive wind shifts, meant positions were constantly changing even on the short final leg to the finish. After two races everyone returned ashore with tales of woe and misread shifts but all very happy, even if a bit sunburnt.
