1. Sailing Rules 1.1 The meetings will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2005-2008, the prescriptions of the RYA, the rules of the classes racing, except as any of these are changed by these Sailing Instructions. These Sailing Instructions may be changed or added to by Supplementary Instructions issued to competitors or posted on the Meeting Notice Board. 1.2 Entrants and authorized guests are temporary members of Broxbourne Sailing Club during the period of the event and shall comply with Club's Rules and Bylaws. |

2. Conditions of Entry 2.1 All helms intending to race shall complete an entry form, which signifies that they and the owner of the dinghy, if different from themselves, agree to the following conditions. The safety of a dinghy and her entire management including insurance shall be the sole responsibility of the owner/competitor racing the dinghy who must ensure that the dinghy, her helm and crew are adequate to face the conditions that may arise during the course of the race. Neither the establishment of these Sailing Instructions nor the inspection of the dinghy under these Instructions in any way limits or reduces the absolute responsibility of the owner/competitor for the helm, the crew, the dinghy and the management thereof. Broxbourne Sailing Club and all those involved with the organization and management of the event shall not individually or collectively be responsible for any loss, damage, death or personal injury howsoever caused to the owner/competitor, the helm, the crew or the dinghy as a result of taking part in the race or races and has a third party insurance to a minimum of £2,000,000. 2.2 For a helm to be eligible for an award, the helm must declare on the entry form that the dinghy to be sailed has a valid class certificate. RRS 78.2 is modified to the extent that a valid class certificate does not have to be submitted before the end of the event unless requested by the race organizers. 2.3 The race organizers may inspect and examine any dinghy, sails, gear or clothing at any time. 2.4 All helms must sail the dinghy declared on their entry forms. No substitute helms will be allowed. 2.5 Signing on / Declaration: Signing on requirement is met by the completion of the entry form. Signing off is not required unless you have retired, if this is not done you will be scored as DSQ. |

3. Notices to Competitors Notices to competitors including the class flags and the schedule of races will be posted on the notice board at the Race Officers' Hut. |

4. Racing Area, Course and Marks The course to be sailed will be indicated in front of the Race Officer's Hut by boards bearing the numbers of the marks in the order in which they are to be rounded. The colour of the numbered board will indicate the side on which the mark is to be rounded. The rounding marks have orange flags with black characters 1 to 10 and LM. The approximate positions of the marks are shown below (additional copies are usually available when entering). |

5. Starts Races will be started using RRS 26. 5.1 Committee Boat: 5.2 Shore Start. |

6. Scoring Scoring will be in accordance as provided in Appendix A of the RRS using the Low Point System, except following: 6.3 A8.2 is deleted. The number of races scheduled and the number to count will be shown on the Race Notice. |

7. Briefing The Race Officer may give a briefing approximately 30 minutes before the first race to explain the start, course and finish details using the plan of the lake below:
